Major Anil Singh has been appointed as the Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Handicraft Development Board. He took over the charge in a simple ceremony after which he expressed his views about Handicrafts of Chhattisgarh and about the future course of action. He said that he feels that the art of Chhattisgarh is very rich and ancient and that there are numerous opportunities to work in this field for the betterment of the artisans and the conservation and growth of the handicrafts. He further said that he wants to provide a sound platform at the national and international level for the handicrafts of Chhattisgarh and to improve the financial condition of the artisans involved in the same.

He is also looking to attract and involve the youth and the younger generations towards the Handicraft sector and to provide good employment facilities to them. He also that he thinks the entire members of the Handicraft Board as a family and that they have already make a beginning towards achieving the goals and that they will very soon start getting the desired results also.  He concluded by saying that he is very happy to have got a chance to work in this field.

Major Anil Singh belongs to Ambikapur in Surguja district. He was born in a peasant family in the year 1955. He completed his Masters in Sociology and LLB from Ambikapur itself. He was and still is very active in sports. He had played at National and State levels in various sports including Cricket, Hockey, Basketball and Kabaddi. He was also very active in NCC and is holder of all the three certificates A , B and C with A grade. Based on his excellent record he was selected as Second Lieutenant at SSB Allahabad. However, due to some personal reasons he could not continue in the services.

Major Anil Singh has been socially and politically very active since he was a student. He formed the ABVP in Surguja in the 1971 and joined active politics in the year 1978. He was also very actively involved in the Jay Prakash Narayan Movement during the emergency in 1975. In his tenure as an active social activist  he held many important portfolios and posts. Some of the important ones being the Chairperson of the Ambikapur Nagarpalika from 1991 to 1997 and the Vice President of the Madhya Pradesh Kisan Morcha in 1998. He was also appointed the Member of the All India Coal Consumer Council.

          Major Anil Singh has always been socially very active through out his career and has been associated various social organizations like the Jaycees and Lions Club etc. Presently also, in his personal capacity,  he is working for the upliftment of the backward people in Surguja and to provide them better health and educational facilities.  He is an avid traveler and has traveled to almost every part of India He is also very found of reading , writing and art.
